If you aren't certain whether you need a lawyer, please feel free to call to make an appointment to ask a question or discuss your particular situation. Many times people receive documentation in the mail and don't understand it. The most dangerous thing to do is not respond; it is far better to have someone review the information and advise you than to ignore it. Not taking action many times can affect you adversely.
If you have a problem and aren't sure whether it is legal, it never hurts to ask an attorney so you can formulate a strategy to deal with the problem. When in doubt call and make an appointment. If it ends up costing a half hour consultation fee to resolve the situation, that's money well spent.
My standard charge for a consultation is a half hour fee, whether the meeting is 30 minutes or 90. However, if you choose to retain me to go forward with your case, that meeting is at no charge and a retainer agreement will be prepared for the work to be performed. That simply ensures that I am paid when prospective clients are "lawyer shopping," rather than seeking an attorney for help.
